“Past Lovers” (literally translated from 昔日戀人, Korean translation: “Flying Lantern,” Poon Deung) is a Chinese and Korean production. The movie will start filming in Shenzhen (深圳). The three main casts of the film are Aaron Yan, Kim So Eun, and Song Yang (宋洋). Fans are already excited by the combination of these stars and their performances in the film will surely create a romantic hurricane and bring tears of joy and sadness.
Aaron Yan, the Ex-Fahrenheit member, has had significant album sales after going solo. In 2014, Aaron received the Best Male Actor award from Sanlih Drama Awards Ceremony (華劇大賞) after acting in Taiwanese drama “Fall in Love With Me” (愛上兩個我) with Taiwanese idol group Dream Girls’ member Tia Lee (李毓芬). “Past Lovers” will be Aaron’s debut movie on the big silver screen, and he will star as the male lead in the movie. This film will also be Kim So Eun’s first time starring in a movie produced by Mainland China. Kim So Eun is a participant in South Korea’s T.V. show “We Got Married.” She won the Best Couple Award at the 2014 MBC Entertainment Awards with her on-screen pseudo husband Song Jae Rim. Song Yang acted as Zhen Zhi Bing (甄志丙) in the 2014 version of the Chinese drama “The Return of the Condor Hero” (神鵰俠侶) and received massive popularity in Mainland China. Song Yang also starred in Director Xu Hao Feng’s (徐浩峰) new movie “Master” (師父), which had received much anticipation and had been dubbed one of the four most anticipated movies of 2015. Since this film “Past Lovers” will also be Song Yang’s first romantic comedy film, this movie will be quite an attention grabber as all three main casts will be using it as a debut in some way. The movie will tell of a romantic love story that will incite both laughter and tears.
“Past Lovers” is co-produced by Yongle Film and Television Beijing (春秋永樂影視文化投資有限公司) and TF Entertainment (北京同人大眾文化傳播有限公司), and co-supplied by Showeast (쇼이스트) and TF Entertainment. Filming will be done by Chinese and Korean camera crews.
The director of the movie is Park Young Hoon (박영훈), a Korean director who rose to fame after directing Addicted (2002) and Innocent Steps (2005). Park Young Hoon is used to directing romantic films and capturing detailed emotions, he has participated in looking over the film scripts this time for “Past Lovers.” In addition to telling a beautiful love story, another important aspect of the movie will be the comedic romance between young adults of today.
“Past Lovers” will employ experienced Korean styling crew to create the new trending fashions of 2016. The stylist (Chinese name of stylist: 鮮于賢) of “Misaeng,” “The Heirs,” “Two Weeks,” “Dream High,” and the stylist (Chinese name of stylist: 敏尚) of The Thieves (2012), New World (2013), Late Autumn (2011), have both joined the styling crew of “Past Lovers.” This team of stylists would like to produce global fashions that would give the audience an eye feast. The three main casts are reported to have already finished fixing their costumes for the film in Beijing.
Film collaborations between China and South Korea have produced great results, as can be seen in A Wedding Invitation (2013) (分手合約) and Miss Granny (2015) (重返20歲). Former Exo member Luhan starred in Miss Granny (2015). On the one hand, these collaborations gain momentum from the stars’ fan base, on the other hand, the OST and different variety aspects of the entertainment industry fulfill the expectations of the audience. The fashion concepts of “Past Lovers” will also be one of the hot topics of this year.
Reportedly, filming of the movie will start in April of 2015, in Shenzhen, and the movie will be released in two years, as projected, with a simultaneous release date in both China and South Korea.
