Taiwanese legend Jay Chou releases the music video for his new song “One Breath” on Youtube on September 17, 2015. In a little more than a day, the music video reaches over one million views on the video-sharing site, showing Jay’s undying popularity.
Jay was able to capture London’s street culture in this music video. Earlier this year, Jay held his wedding in England and was able to film his music video at Camden Town. Several locations featured in the music video had already been purchased by builders and were about to be torn down and rebuilt. Through this music video, the original graffiti of Camden Town was able to be preserved.
Jay shows us his dancing and finger tutting skills in this music video, matching the hip hop vibe of the song. Check out Jay’s new MV and enjoy some cool new beats from the music master!
Can you do the “One Breath” rap?
Chinese videos have not been watched as much as English or Korean videos on Youtube because of several reasons.
First, Youtube is blocked in China, and China has other video-sharing sites, which the public uses.
Second, record companies in Taiwan traditionally do not put English titles on their videos even if they do upload them on Youtube. This makes it a lot harder for non-Chinese speakers to find the videos. Some companies are starting to add English titles to their videos, but the majority of Chinese videos still do not have English titles.
Third, Youtube isn’t as popular a site in Chinese-speaking localities as it is in English-speaking places, and traffic of Chinese-speaking viewers is a lot lower than that of English-speaking viewers on Youtube.
There are many other reasons why Chinese videos aren’t viewed as much on Youtube, leave a comment and tell us what you think the reasons are!
